Reggae For A Reason
Producer, composer, band leader and legendary reggae bass player, Fully Fullwood, created Reggae For A Reason as a way to give back to those in need. Proceeds from all Reggae For A Reason events are donated to various charities focusing on the health, safety and well-being of children. Particular focus is given to organizations assisting homeless youth.
There are an estimated 26,000 homeless youth living in the Orange County CA area, one of the richest counties in the nation. On the streets, these children are consistently exposed to the harshest scenarios imaginable: prostitution, theft, physical violence, drug abuse, incarceration, depression, exposure to the elements, hunger and widespread disease.
Reggae For A Reason holds charity fundraising events about once every three months. These events are scheduled and planned as benefits and the majority of the proceeds from ticket sales, bake sales, raffles, etc are donated directly to various charities such as Stand Up For Kids, Colette's Children's Home, Project HOPE School, American Family Housing, etc. The musicians and volunteers donate their time and talent for these events. Any fees we are charged (typically small fees for venue rental or equipment rental) are the only costs deducted from the proceeds.
In addition, on a more frequent basis, Fully donates a portion of the net proceeds from all shows and endeavors in which he is involved. In addition to enjoying great roots reggae, during these shows, we collect donation items and pass on information about the needs of these charitable organizations.
