The mission of Friends of UA is to facilitate unique educational opportunities and programs for University Academy students and Alumni. Friends of UA aspires to fund and manage efficient and effective programs to help University Academy students and Alumni succeed in college and life.

Alumni Support Program

The mission of the Alumni Support Program is to connect UA Alumni to the resources they need to complete college and build successful careers. The Alumni Support Program aims to increase the probability of success in an institution of higher education and level the playing field for University Academy graduates by providing support, information, and connections. We strive to be the most successful Alumni support program in the country based on 6-year Alumni college graduation rates.

Friends of UA Annual Gala and Grant Programs

Friends of UA hosts an Annual Gala to celebrate the achievements of University Academy students, graduates, staff, and supporters. University Academy has an active and excited community of volunteers and donors engaged year-round in garnering the resources and personnel necessary to achieve our mission. This event is held at the school, University Academy, to allow guests to see the beauty of the school and the talented work of its students. The funds raised are used to support special programs and educational opportunities for University Academy students and alumni.

About University Academy

University Academy is a K-12 college-preparatory charter public school located in Kansas City, MO. The founders of the school believe deeply that students living in Kansas City, Missouri deserve the opportunity to have an excellent college preparatory education. The school serves 1000 students. Roughly 75% of the students at the school qualify for free or reduced lunch and over 90% of the students are African-American. University Academy’s mission is to prepare students to succeed in an institution of higher education and to be leaders in society. The vision of University Academy is to be the best college-preparatory charter public school in the country with an emphasis on college preparation, career development, community service and leadership.
