About Us

African Youth Union (AYU) is a Pan-African Youth Organization with members across the continent. It was formed as a result of neglecting the role of youths in the political and social-economic sectors, the decaying patriotism and Pan-Africanism among Africans, foreign aggression, violating of human rights and extreme exploitation of young people, threatening and oppressing of young activists, poor systems of governance and dictatorship among some African leaders.

Its formation was inspired by the selfless actions of African notable legends like Patrice Lumumba, Kwame Nkrumah, Julius Nyerere, Nelson Mandela, Thomas Sankara, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Kenneth Kuanda among others. The people of the 21st generation felt a big gap between the patriots and Pan-Africanists of the 20th century and those of the 21st century. It was deemed necessary for this generation to reignite and renew the spirit of Pan-Africanism for a brighter and independent future of Africa.
