About Us

Founded in 2007, Global Justice Initiative, Inc. (GJI) is a Washington, DC-based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting equal access to justice and social change. GJI advances its mission through three distinct programs of work:

► Access Mediation

► Forced Marriage Prevention

► Language Access & Linguistic Integration

ACCESS MEDIATION

The Access Mediation Initiative promotes the proper use of elective mediation to resolve international parental kidnapping and cross-border child custody disputes, to ensure that children have appropriate access to both parents. Properly conducted elective mediation can cultivate a safe, neutral environment for parents to forge mutually acceptable solutions and a cooperative co-parenting regime. AMI provides advocates with technical assistance, training, legal updates, information and publications.

FORCED MARRIAGE PREVENTION

The Forced Marriage Prevention Initiative provides technical assistance, training, news, legal updates and publications designed to raise public awareness and arm advocates with tools and resources to prevent and respond to cases of forced (nonconsensual) marriage in the United States.

LANGUAGE ACCESS & LINGUISTIC INTEGRATION

The Language Access & Linguistic Integration Initiative is a digital clearinghouse designed to arm advocates with the resources to address the language barriers that impede more than 25 million persons residing in the United States from accessing critical resources and services necessary for their safety and wellbeing, and for the safety and wellbeing of the 279 million native English speakers who inhabit the same space. LALI offers news, updates, publications and resources on language access.
