Coach With Girls on the Run in Hillsborough!

Are you interested in transforming the lives of girls in your area? We are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic volunteers who are committed to empowering girls with valuable life lessons. We will fully equip you with everything you’ll need to be an amazing coach: training, curriculum, all supplies and support needed, and 2-3 volunteer co-coaches to share the fun.

Girls on the Run is a nationwide nonprofit after-school program that builds confidence in girls in the 3rd-8th grades. Our program combines physical activity with intentionally designed lessons encouraging mental, social, and emotional development. 

With a refreshed curriculum that powerfully recognizes the needs of today’s girls, there’s never been a better time to get involved. Come lead the way and help a team of girls in your community activate their limitless potential!

Hillsborough North Elementary practice schedule: Mon/Weds 3:15-4:30pm

Hillsborough South Elementary practice schedule: Mon/Weds 3:15-4:30pm

Hillsborough West Elementary practice schedule: Mon/Weds 3:15-4:30pm

Coach Responsibilities:

• Serve as a role model and mentor for the participating girls
• Prepare & collaborate with other coaches to facilitate twice-weekly lessons
• Attend both weekly practices
• Communicate with parents/guardians of program participants as needed
• Participate in the Girls on the Run 5K
• Have fun motivating girls to become healthy and confident!

Coach Qualifications:

• Interest in inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident!
• Interest in running or exercise is a plus but not required (you do not need to be a runner or a competitive athlete to be a successful coach)!
• Must complete 3 hours of on-demand coach training and one 3 hour in-person training session to prepare you to lead this season
• Able to dedicate approximately 5-7 hours a week from March-May. Commitment and consistency is important for your co-coaches and team of girls.
• Must  complete a short list of onboarding requirements such as a fingerprint background check

Spring 2024 Season Calendar: Season starts the week of March 11th

• February/March: in-person coach training options available at a variety of locations
• Week of March 11th: Season starts this week (exact start date depends on your practice days)
• May 11th: Season-ending 5K

As a GOTR coach, you...

• Lead lessons, group discussions, and movement-based activities in small groups twice a week.
• Support girls as they create community impact projects, develop life skills, and pursue their goals.
• Receive training, tools, and resources from GOTR throughout the entire season.
