Description

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers, AmeriCorps (NDMVA) is seeking an After School Program/Lunch Monitor to serve as a Full-time AmeriCorps Member at East Boston Central Catholic School in East Boston from August 2024-June 2025.

East Boston Central Catholic is the only parochial school in East Boston serving the needs of East Boston and the surrounding communities of: Winthrop, Revere, Chelsea, Saugus, Greater Boston area. The students at the school are from diverse, multi-cultural backgrounds, many of whom are English language learners, and come from families with very limited economic resources. EBCCS provides a safe, conducive learning environment that enriches the lives of the students on an academic and spiritual level. The philosophy of the school reflects the values and ideals of all those who have a vital part in the growth, development, and life of the school. The effectiveness of its philosophy is measured by the attitudes, behavior, and daily living of the students, parents, and faculty who have assimilated it. The philosophy of the school stresses the need for "community among people" as a basic strategy for students and faculty to value in coping with the perplexities and decisions of an ever-changing society.

The AmeriCorps Member(s) will be responsible to assist in the After-School Program via planning and implementation, direct student academic support, social-emotional learning, and overseeing recreational activities. They will also be responsible to assist in the school lunchroom, with duties including supervision of students at mealtime and recess, as well as maintaining the lunch space.
