Overview:

The Peace Economy Project, dedicated to advocating for peace, economic justice, and the redirection of military spending towards social and environmental progress, is in search of an organized and enthusiastic Event Planning Volunteer. This position is integral to the execution of impactful events that raise awareness, engage the community, and support our mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Event Coordination: Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of various events, including workshops, panels, fundraising events, and advocacy campaigns. This involves venue selection, scheduling, and logistics management.
  • Vendor Management: Liaise with vendors, including caterers, venues, and equipment suppliers, to ensure event needs are met within budgetary constraints.
  • Promotion: Work closely with the communications team to promote events through social media, email newsletters, and community outreach.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Help recruit and manage event volunteers, ensuring they are well-informed about their roles and responsibilities during the event.
  • Material Preparation: Assist in creating and organizing event materials, such as informational brochures, signage, and attendee packets.
  • Post-Event Follow-Up: Support the team in post-event activities, including attendee feedback collection, thank-you notes to speakers and participants, and event evaluation to inform future planning.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, comfortable working with a diverse range of people.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Experience in event planning or management is preferred but not required.
  • Passion for the Peace Economy Project’s mission and a desire to contribute to social change.
  • Availability to commit to hours as needed leading up to and during events, including some weekends and evenings.

Time Commitment:

This volunteer position requires a flexible commitment of approximately 5-10 hours per week, increasing as specific events approach. The role may involve both remote planning tasks and on-site event activities.

Location:

This opportunity can accommodate remote volunteers, but on-site participation in Saint Louis, MO, or vicinity is preferred for local events.
