Description

Red Oak Behavioral Health’s Associate Board is a group of emerging and motivated business, nonprofit, and civic leaders that champion Red Oak’s mission to change lives by partnering with the community and those in need of behavioral health services. As a member of the Associate Board, you will use your unique talents and engage your networks to build awareness for Red Oak’s work in the greater Akron region, particularly amongst the corporate community and with other young professionals. In return, you will have the opportunity to network and connect with other mission-oriented young professionals while developing and harnessing leadership skills.

Primary Staff Liaison: Director of Development & Marketing

Term: 2 Years

Core Responsibilities:

·        Be well informed about the work of Red Oak and its role in the community.

·        Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in at least two-thirds of Associate Board meetings (at least 4 out of 6 meetings annually).

·        Serve on at least one committee of the Associate Board (Current committees include: Back to School, Holiday Baskets/Giving Tree, Rockin’ with Red Oak, Where Love Grows)

·        Advocate for Red Oak in your community, workplace, and on social media; serve as an ambassador for the agency and leverage your networks to share resources, donations, sponsorships, and information that advance the Agency’s goals.

·        Attend and support our annual Where Love Grows fundraising event and other Red Oak events sponsored by the Associate Board.

·        Recruit new Associate Board members who can contribute to Red Oak through volunteer leadership, financial contributions, or other resources (including Corporate Sponsorship where viable).

·        Commit to give or get at least $500 each year through a combination of any of the following:

o Personal gifts

o Event ticket purchases

o In-kind donations (i.e. silent auction items, food for fundraising events)

o Employer match or in-kind sponsorships

The function of the Associate Board will not duplicate or overlap with its Board of Directors, which serves a governance function. The Associate Board does not approve budgets, drive strategic decisions for the organization, or assume any financial or legal liability for the agency. Rather, it builds and sustains strategic external connections and drives resources into the agency.
