About Us:

Project Libertad is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that empowers newcomer immigrant youth and their families by providing essential, youth-led, and youth-centered legal and social services.

​We envision a world where all newcomer immigrant youth have access to the legal services, social services, academic support, and leadership opportunities needed to thrive.

Position statement

The Treasurer is responsible for handling Project Libertad’s funds.

Time Commitment: Up to10 hours per month

The Project Libertad Board of Directors is a working board with all members contributing to the operation of the organization in a direct way. The Treasurer of the Board will perform the majority of the accounting functions for the organization along with acting in an advisory capacity. 


The Treasurer role includes the below responsibilities and deliverables:

Serve as chair of the Finance Committee

Serve on the Executive Committee

Perform accounting functions

Perform bookkeeping functions as needed

Prepare Cash Flow Statements

Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports including;

  • Statement of Activity
  • Statement of Financial Position
  • Allocation of Functional Expenses
  • Restricted Revenue Reconciliation (by donor)
  • Prepare an annual and multi-year budget to align with the organization's strategic plan.

Contribute to the preparation of tax-related documents and legal forms and ensure they are filed on time, such as the documents required to maintain the organization’s tax-exempt status.

Provide and compile financial information as requested for grant applications and reporting.

Advise The Board and Executive Director on financial strategies and best practices.

Advise the Board and Executive Director on all financial matters.

2024 / 2025 - assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of a new fund accounting system

** REQUIRED: Background Checks (PATCH, Child Abuse, FBI) & Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination**

Experience

Accounting or Finance preferably in a non profit environment

Working with accounting software systems
