*We are now recruiting for our Fall 2024 training. Training courses to begin in September 2024*
Doorways is an Arlington-based non-profit agency helping individuals and families create pathways out of homelessness, domestic violence and sexual assault leading to safe, stable and empowered lives. We envision a community where all people live free of violence and have safe and stable housing regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, age, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, abilities, language, or national origin. We see a future without homelessness or domestic and sexual violence.
We are seeking bilingual individuals to act as Shelter Coverage Volunteers for at least 8 hours per month (usually two 4-hour shifts) in our Domestic Violence Safe House. Shelter Coverage Volunteers respond to hotline calls, ensure the smooth operation of the shelter and assist in meeting the needs of domestic violence survivors and their children residing at the shelter. Typical shifts are Saturdays and Sundays 10am-2pm & 2pm-6pm, with weekday daytime shifts as needed.
Volunteers must complete 40 hours of training in person and submit background checks. Training class starts in September 2024. One year commitment required.
