Volunteer in our Women's Center: Tuesday - Saturday between 8:30am- 12:00pm and 12:30- 3pm.
The St. Vincent de Paul West Oakland Women's Center is located in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in Northern California and provides direct assistance to women and children in need. It is a safe and welcoming environment where women can come in for a warm shower, to do their laundry, us e the toilets and feel that they are in a safe and welcoming area.
We also provide a play area so their children are able to be in a safe and fun environment while their mother is able to take care of whatever it is she needs to do.
We provide hygiene products, feminine hygiene products, baby diapers, adult diapers, children's clothes and shoes, as well as adult clothes and shoes.
Volunteers will be asked to:
Greet clients as they enter the center.
Help to check-in clients.
Assist front desk with handing out towels, and hygiene items.
Assist with laundry services.
Replenish supplies.
Help to manage the baby room, where we give away children’s clothes, shoes and diapers.
SVdP welcomes students, ages 14 and older, to complete service hours in Downtown Oakland. Youth under the age of 18 will need a waiver of liability signed by a parent/guardian. Youth under the age of 16 will need an adult (someone who is 18 years or older) to accompany them the entire day of service. We love to have families volunteer together! We also accommodate small groups of students for high school service days.
