Description

About Florida Access Network

Florida Access Network advocates for reproductive justice, funds abortion care, and provides logistical support to people experiencing barriers to access reproductive care in Florida. FAN formerly known as the Central Florida Women’s Emergency Fund (CFLWEF) has existed as a 501 c3 nonprofit organization since 1995. In 1996 we became founding members of the National Network of Abortion Funds, solidifying our commitment to collaboration with the national abortion funding network growing in response to the social, economic, and political factors making abortion access increasingly difficult.

Our Rebirth

In 2019 through the leadership of our former Board President and current Executive Director, Stephanie Loraine Pineiro, we reimagined CFLWEF’s place in Florida’s abortion access movement and Florida Acccess Network was born again in 2020. Our name was changed to reflect our existing expansion to funding abortion care for Floridians around the state and the intention to begin regularly engaging with our community through organizing and relationship building. Since our rebirth in 2020, we’ve grown to a team of 10 committed to making abortion access a reality and building a mutual aid network across the State of Florida.

Our organization is dedicated to access, justice, and radical self-love. We were born from the belief that Floridians shouldn’t have barriers to safe and legal abortions and sexual health, regardless of how our state votes politically. We’re proud of our Southern roots and see a future where all Floridians feel supported and liberated, loving who they love and how they love with no restraint.

Radicalizing sexual health means creating a community ready to demand justice, change, and progress. They need to be armed with resources, education, representation, and the confidence to stand up and resist–however that looks for them. We’re glad to be a trusted source where those with money and resources to spare can feel comfortable joining the fight. Because we give a f*#k about our bodies. And we’re not backing down until reproductive justice and sexual liberation are a reality for every body.

Our Values

We’re looking for Board Members who are values aligned *and* will push the organization to grow and evolve accordingly. FAN board members are committed to supporting the growing capacity of FAN acting as advisors and providing ancillary support to FAN’s team to accomplish FAN’s mission and values.

Power: Despite the patriarchy and systemic oppression trying their damn hardest to strip it from us, we’ll never lose our power. We promise to never stop helping our communities realize, reclaim, and nurture their power.

Collective: The fight for reproductive justice and sexual liberation is far-reaching and tough. We can’t and won’t go at it alone. We’re stronger together.

Love: This movement is unstoppable because it’s rooted in love. Love for our bodies, love for our communities, love for sex, love for justice.

Intersectionality: There’s no reproductive justice without intersectionality. Nobody is free until all bodies are free.

Duty of Loyalty: Ensure that the nonprofit's activities and transactions are, first and foremost, advancing its mission; Recognize and disclose conflicts of interest;
