Are you looking for a way to put your skills and passion to work to make a meaningful impact? Join our board and empower youth in Ghana to be change-makers in their communities.

The Pagus model is holistic, rigorous, and sustainable. We assist students in their academic, personal, and social development. Our delivery model is sustainable because our scholars gain the skills and desire lead projects in their communities.

Position: We are seeking new members to our board and hope to find those who have experience in non-profit governance, strength in finance, fundraising, and/or governance. We welcome members who align with our mission and add their diverse views and rich experience.

Members of the Board support the work of the organization and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. The Board's relationship with the executive team is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:

Leadership, governance, and oversight:

  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director as s/he develops and implements the organization's strategic plan
  • Approving the organization’s annual budget and plan to fund it accordingly.
  • Reviewing metrics and outcomes for evaluating Pagus' impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness.
  • Reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
  • Audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  •  Contributing to an annual performance evaluation of the Executive Director and Program Director
  • Assisting the Executive Director and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
  • Partnering with the Executive Director and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
  • Representing to stakeholders, donors, and partners; acting as an ambassador for the organization
  • Ensuring the organization’s commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities Pagus:Africa, Center for Achievement’s serves

Responsibilities

  • Attendance at meetings 4-6 times a year or more (committee and/or board)
  • Carry out committee assignments

Financial obligation: Board Members of the Organization will consider Pagus:Africa one of their top three philanthropic priorities and make annual gifts that reflect that priority so that Pagus: Africa can credibly solicit contributions from other foundations, corporations, and individuals.

  • Volunteering your expertise 4-6 hours per month to advance the work of the organization.
  • Make a substantial annual contribution to help meet the approved budget. (through personal means or by leveraging personal and professional networks to help raise funds from others aligned with our mission and goals.)

 Qualifications

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about empowering youth to be change-makers and who has or seeks to build a track record of board leadership.

Service on Pagus: Africa’s Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs in relation to Board Members’ duties.
