Description

Sustainable Tourism Volunteer in Africa

Summary

Art in Tanzania runs safari and tour operations in Tanzania as part of NGO fundraising. Interns help develop the tour programs, guiding and marketing our tours and safaris.

Details

Art in Tanzania looks to set itself apart from the crowd regarding safari and tour business by offering sustainable travel options. Commonly, safaris are sold by tour agents located in the Western world. They sell the safaris, but only part of the money comes to Tanzania to support the economy.

Typically, villages around famous national parks are the poorest of the poor. Our tours' profits come to Tanzania and support the Tanzanian economy and community development activities.

Academic-level team leaders supervise your internship daily. In addition, we monitor your work with a weekly plan and report system to ensure you proceed well in your study program.

The internship outcome is learning to use and get experience to implement your education in developing country conditions with limited capacity. Also, to better understand the opportunities in a fast-growing economy.

Work hours are 6-8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

The program is ongoing, and we can adjust your start dates. We accept applications from all students and alums. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests to empower your daily work with the community.

The placement is from 2 weeks to 12 months. You can also conduct the thesis and related tasks.

The typical daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility.

The typical morning tasks include practical fieldwork in the schools and communities, and afternoons are for planning, reporting, and social media visibility functions.

The Benefits and Perks are as follows:

Accommodation with breakfast and dinner is EUR 175 per week and is a personal expense. However, the cost drops to EUR 125 weekly after the first 13 weeks.

Airport transfers from and to EUR 120 are a personal expense.

A charity student or volunteer VISA is USD 50 and is a personal expense. Less than a 1-year multiple-entry charity VISA is USD 250.

We pay a USD 100 per month stipend to you. It is small but 2x Tanzania's national minimum wage. T

Flights are a personal expense.

The local transport program in Tanzania is a personal expense but small if needed.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable tours and safaris.

We need your tentative arrival and departure to book you in and open your account.
