Description

Volunteer for The Builders of the New World (BNW), an award-winning after-school theater-arts education program that has helped thousands of children from over 20 temporary housing facilities, since 1995. BNW teaches children an educational vision of opening up their imagination to look into the future and the tangible steps they must take to make that wonderful vision a reality.

Join us as a volunteer Mentor and Program Assistant in delivering this heartfelt program and be a part of this very meaningful revolutionary process. Our program includes 11 weeks of life-changing creative classes for the children taught by ATW’s Artistic Director and Founder Thurman E. Scott, family-style meals we enjoy together at each session, creative classes, and a final performance for a loving audience of invited community members and business leaders.

ATW’s Mentorship program provides you and your colleagues (either as a team or individuals) with the opportunity to support and mentor 8-14 year old children in a safe, creative environment. Our program will enable you to serve the community while growing and gaining new skills and insights-enhance team building, improve inter-group communication skills, address diversity issues with compassion and expansive thinking, and develop creative expression through a deeply rewarding shared experience.

BNW is an award-winning program that has been endorsed by successive mayors, from Mayors David Dinkins to Bill De Blasio, as well as the city council.

One of the most profound longings of individuals is to share the essence of themselves because when we do, we plant an eternalness on earth. Please come and participate in this glorious opportunity to teach and develop these young children.
