Description

While Tanzania's natural beauty is what makes this country shine, it is still one of the most underrated nations in all of Africa. From rough, rugged mountains to stunning seascapes and abandoned ghost towns, the beauty of this country might just take your breath away. Nevertheless, Tanzania is not without its very own set of struggles either. As a volunteer in Tanzania, you will be faced with dire poverty. After all, about half of the Tanzanian population lives in poverty, which unfortunately is typical for most African countries. Given that this country is both one of the poorest on the African continent and in the world, there is much for you to do as a volunteer in Tanzania.

Whether you want to help the local population achieve a better life or you are interested in protecting the local wildlife as a volunteer in Tanzania, there are several volunteer projects for you. Your charity and volunteer work in Tanzania will certainly go a long way here

CHILD HOPE FOUNDATION believes that photography can raise awareness and be an opportunity to capture visual stories around critical environmental and social issues

This project has a number of long-term goals, the ultimate goal being to raise awareness and help preserve the precious Tanzania environment. This project contributes to conservation efforts by creating a photographic database, which can be used as an educational tool and for animal identification purposes. Volunteers then apply these resources to educating the local community about environmental conservation.

As volunteer your tasks may include:

  • Take pictures of the extensive wildlife on regular game drives
  • Help to create a photo database for awareness and educational purposes
  • Help raise awareness in the local community about the importance of conservation
  • Assist on conservation initiatives outside the park, You may also be given the opportunity to help use your existing and new found knowledge by discussing conservation education
  • Teaching pre-primary schools, primary school and secondary schools

This project is based in the Greater Serengeti Area close to the famous Serengeti National Park – one of the largest national park in the world and home to Africa's 'Big 5' species. The Serengeti plains harbor the largest remaining unaltered animal migration in the world where over one million wildebeest plus hundreds of thousands of other ungulates engage in a 1,000 km long annual circular trek spanning the two adjacent countries of Kenya and Tanzania. This spectacular phenomenon takes place in a unique scenic setting of ‘endless plains’: 25,000km2 of treeless expanses of spectacularly flat short grasslands dotted with rocky outcrops (kopjes) interspersed with rivers and woodlands. The Park also hosts one of the largest and most diverse large predator-prey interactions worldwide, providing a particularly impressive aesthetic experience.
