OSINT Investigations Data Curator/Archivist

Who We Are:  

Night Owl Reconnaissance is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with the purpose to contribute to the detection and prevention of causes that lead to missing individuals, assisting in investigations of missing persons, and offering victim assistance and resources to those recovered. Founded in 2019, we have focused on investigating individual missing persons cases I while working to expand to the detection and prevention of missing persons and offering resources for those who have been recovered.

We understand that there are many reasons for a person to go missing, whether it be child abduction, sex trafficking, escaping domestic abuse, or death. Our aim is to work with law enforcement to ensure the safety of anybody reported missing. We also understand that people willingly leave hostile or abusive situations and are reported missing. In these situations, we will work with law enforcement to communicate it as a willing separation and offer any services to the victim we are able.

Our aim is to become a collection of industry experts who collaboratively work with other organizations to contribute our of skills and knowledge.

Position Duties: 

Night Owl Reconnaissance Investigation Division conducts research into alleged or suspected missing person cases using a wide range of techniques, analysis, and methods to uncover relevant information that can be shared with the appropriate authorities. We are currently seeking a meticulous and skilled volunteer Investigations Data Curator to validate and present investigative information in a professional and easily digestible format. 

As an Investigations Data Curator, you will be responsible for consolidating information from our teams of Investigative Researchers into a cohesive, organized, and easily accessible format. This process is vital for addressing and filling any gaps in public-facing data. This may also involve working alongside investigators to determine additional factors and insights as needed.

Your contributions will be instrumental in producing high-quality documents that are ready for public dissemination, transfer to law enforcement agencies, or distribution to the families of missing persons. Furthermore, your efforts will be crucial in contributing to the establishment of a publicly accessible, long-term repository of missing persons investigative data. This repository will become a valuable resource for both ongoing and future missing persons investigations.

As an Investigations Data Curator, you will be a linchpin in our efforts to bring clarity and resolution to complex missing persons cases. Your work will not only aid in our current investigations but also contribute significantly to our long-term goals of prevention, detection, and assistance in missing persons cases.

Requirements:

Strong attention to detail and the ability to meticulously review and organize complex information.

Excellent written communication skills with the ability to present data and narratives in a professional and easily digestible manner.

Proficiency in structuring and formatting documents for maximum clarity and readability.

Familiarity with research methodologies and the ability to validate information through light fact-checking procedures.

Understanding of the sensitive nature of missing persons cases and the importance of privacy and confidentiality.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a remote volunteer team environment.

Passionate about the mission of locating missing persons and assisting their families.
