Description

About the organization

CREATS International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works in Kenya to dismantle cultural, social, and economic barriers impeding rural communities from thriving. We achieve this by facilitating access to critical agricultural inputs such as quality seeds, organic fertilizer, and extension services. We also promote access to health and education in rural areas and actively support women entrepreneurs engaged in environmental conservation initiatives, including agroforestry, tree nursery projects, and other environmentally conscious endeavors.

Advisory Board Role

As we embark on a new year, we seek motivated and committed individuals to join our Advisory Board. The board will play a vital role in shaping the future of CREATS through providing strategic guidance, support in fundraising activities, and representing CREATS at the community level. The board comprises 5-7 members from diverse backgrounds, professions, and interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice on organizational governance, program development, and implementation.
  • Provide valuable advice to the executive director and the board of directors.
  • Analyze and offer insights on trends, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
  • Support CREATS’ fundraising efforts, including planning for annual fundraising events.
  • Identify, recommend, or initiate partnerships with like-minded organizations or potential donors.
  • Positively promote the organization's work in the community and advocate for its interests.
  • Be familiar with the mission, vision, values, programs, and goals of CREATS.
  • Attend board meetings to deliberate on various agendas shaping the organization.

What we are looking for

  • Knowledge of best practices in non-profit governance and risk management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
