Description

Who We Are:

Night Owl Reconnaissance is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with the purpose to contribute to the detection and prevention of causes that lead to missing individuals, assisting in investigations of missing persons, and offering victim assistance and resources to those recovered. Founded in 2019, we have focused on investigating individual missing persons cases while working to expand to the detection and prevention of missing persons and offering resources for those who have been recovered.

We understand that there are many reasons for a person to go missing, whether it be child abduction, sex trafficking, escaping domestic abuse, or death. Our aim is to work with law enforcement to ensure the safety of those who are reported missing. We also understand that people willingly leave hostile or abusive situations and are reported missing. In these situations, we will work with law enforcement to communicate it as a willing separation and offer any services to the victim we are able.  We aim to become a collection of industry experts, collaboratively working with other organizations to contribute to this issue.  We welcome all skill levels for our open opportunities.

Purpose:

The Investigation Division conducts research by using a suite of OSINT techniques, analyses, and methods to uncover relevant information on instances of alleged or suspected missing persons and human trafficking, then transmits this information to the proper authorities.

We are looking for outgoing and engaging individuals who have a background or interest in conducting field interviews, collecting data, and engaging in other public facing job duties. If you like to take initiative, speak with people of diverse backgrounds, and you share our commitment to objective high-quality research, then you can help us make meaningful contributions that make an impact. This role will directly support OSINT field investigators.

Job Duties:

·       Data entry and case tracking, as well as community outreach.

·       Complete and submit administrative paperwork

·       Comply with data security and confidentiality requirements

Responsibilities:

·       Interviewers are responsible for safely and respectfully contacting individuals who may have knowledge or details about a missing person to gain cooperation and garner new data points for a remote-based multidisciplinary investigative team.

 Qualifications:

·       This position plays a large role in developing context and proactive investigative leads as part of the larger investigative group using several approaches. Candidates should be willing to attend case review meetings, participate in ongoing education, and act as an advocate for the cause of missing persons.

·       Prior experience or training with criminal interviewing techniques or forensic interviewing training preferred.

·       An ability and desire to read, analyze, interpret and disseminate large amounts of information from various sources and then utilize that information to further an investigation.

·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills preferred.

·       Candidates should have a willingness to work in a collaborative setting.

·       Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Analysis, Forensic Science, Forensic Psychology, or related field is considered a bonus.

We ask that volunteer can give at least one (1) hour per week, when it fits their schedule.
