Description
Our organization Young Women on the Rize-YWR is seeking a creative writer preferable English literature/ who is familiar not only with the Bronx culture but who has the expertise and skills to tell a tell unique NYC boroughs and lower Westchester / NY areas stories as the individual spends time with our members.
The creative writer will write and assemble together news stories that will interest the Bronx community especially for our young women, friends , and their family. YWR would like the writers to gather together a number of different sources and ensuring that all the arguments are represented, they keep their young women are interested in topics that are about them and that are for them in the Bronx community and NYC tri-state area abreast of events in the community and world.
The creative writer/Journalism expertise position involves:
- writing press releases
- researching materials about the community involving the members and making connections to enroll new members
- establishing and maintaining contacts
- interviewing various sources
- writing, editing, and submitting copy
- attending events
- proofreading
- verifying statements and facts
- staying up to date with privacy, contempt and defamation law
- liaising with editors, sub–editors, designers and photographers.
It is possible to transfer between television, radio, newspaper and publishing work.

Materials and any supplies are supplied from from our organization. YWR has a weekly supply that must be filled out to receive the materials necessary to conduct a very successfully workshop.
