Unlocking Bronx Youth Futures through Mentorship!

College exposure, readiness and enrollment retention are entities that go hand in hand. 

Did you know that a mere 57% of Bronx high school youth are registering as “college ready”. While an average of 49% of those aspiring college graduates will ultimately disembark their college journey within six months of initial enrollment. 

Introducing Unlocking Futures’ Bronx College Bound Program: a transformative initiative dedicated to transcending the boundaries of academia through our four key components: 

1. Curriculum for Possibilities 
2. College Readiness Skills & Project Management 
3. Socio-Cultural Exposure 
4. Post-Program Nurturing 

Serving as a mentor coach for Unlocking Futures’ Bronx College Bound Program means you are dedicated to fostering the voluntary commitment our youth make to their cognitive development.

Our next Volunteer Orientation will be in February 2024.

Approximately 75-90 minutes in the early evening. 

Exact time TBD 

Volunteer Mentor Requirements: 

• Must be able to travel to the Bronx 
• Must be 25 years old and older 
• Must undergo a background check 
• Must attend an 11-hour Volunteer Mentor Training (March 2024) 

Time Commitment: 

• Approximately 7-8 hours a month, including in-person group sessions in the Bronx, one-on-one phone calls with your mentee & monthly zoom sessions with Mentor Managers.
