As a Communications and Visibility Advisor, you will be working with Global Green Growth Institute, GGGI based in the African Union along with their team in Addis Ababa Ethiopia in leading and formulating partnerships and networks to achieve and disseminate results.

In this role, you will support GGGI Ethiopia, moving into a period of recovery from COVID-19 pandemic, there is now an opportunity to reset traditional approaches to economic development and shift towards greener, more sustainable initiatives. To guide this shift across the African continent, the African Union developed the Green Recovery Action Plan (GRAP) which provides a framework for sustainable economic recovery from the pandemic.

The ultimate outcome of the Project is an enhanced impact on the economic and climate resilience of the African population, in particular women and youth, post-COVID-19. This will be achieved through progress in three intermediate outcomes:

Strengthening the African Union’s Commission (AUC’s) ability to implement the GRAP

Enhancing skills of national and regional policymakers to develop inclusive green growth policies, plans and programs in alignment with their nationally determined contributions and climate change strategies

Improving the ability for governments and partners to access climate finance for Africa’s green recovery, aimed in particular at initiatives that support women and youth.

  • Support the development of a clear AU GRAP image (branding) and voice (messaging), that is proactive in setting the tone of AU GRAP and its partners’ cooperation, adaptable to relevant channels and that resonates with various target groups focusing on Climate Finance Capacity Needs Assessment and Gender Empowerment.
  • Sustained links with the media are established, with improved coverage – in terms of quantity and quality – across print, broadcast and digital media focusing on Climate Finance Capacity Needs Assessment and Gender Empowerment.
  • Impact of the GAC GGI integration into AUC as well as the GGI-GAC partnership on AU citizens is illustrated and a positive vision of a region that realizes the ambitions of its people is projected specifically focusing on Climate Finance Capacity Needs Assessment and Gender Empowerment.

About Us, the Project and the Partner

Cuso International

Cuso International is an international cooperation and development organization that works to create economic and social opportunities for marginalized groups. Together with our partners, we are focused on efforts to advance gender equality and social inclusion, improve economic resilience, and deliver progress on climate action. We believe that by sharing skills, we can build better futures. Founded in 1961, Cuso International works in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Canada.

Project - Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE)

Cuso International will deliver the Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE) project, with a contribution from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) over seven years (2020-2027). SHARE aims to improve the economic and/or social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, particularly women and girls, in developing countries, with a view to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to increasing engagement of Canadians in international development and key global issues, this project will aim to increase the performance of country partners to deliver more inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality, in support of the action areas of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.

Partner - Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI)

GGGI has been working in Ethiopia since 2010, supporting the Government of Ethiopia’s efforts in the development and implementation of a Climate Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) Strategy. This involves collaborating toward the delivery of Ethiopia’s vision of becoming a climate-resilient middle-income economy by 2030, with a zero-net increase in carbon emissions. Additionally, the aim is to facilitate key systemic transformations in the economy and generate innovative ideas toward a climate-resilient green economy.
