Project Managers are expected to put in a minimum of 8 hours per week and be responsive to emails within 24 hours.

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Operations, the Project Manager is responsible for supporting the planning, organizing and directing operations related to ongoing projects and its processes in the Operations Group. The Project Manager takes initiative to identify opportunities, address performance/process gaps, track risks, issues and assumptions. The Project Manager is responsible for implementing and executing control processes, in addition to documenting changes. The Project Manager will work closely with the Project Coordinator and Associate Director of Operations to handle local events and campaigns.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and budget.
  • Day-to-day management of resources and tasks, organizing and leading/attending meetings, implementing monitor and control activities.
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring feasibility.
  • Develop a detailed project plan and project artifacts (e.g. project log, schedule, status reports, etc) to track progress.
  • Schedule and conduct weekly meetings to monitor progress and prioritize tasks.
  • Create and maintain project management templates as necessary.
  • Coordinate and deliver project management workshops and other training opportunities to managers and product owners as approved.
  • Track work activities and project statuses of ongoing projects.
  • Provide project support to the associate director and/or director.
  • Be willing to attend virtual meetings in EST timezone (GMT -4:00) and respond to emails and online messages within 36 hours.
  • Perform other duties as required.

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Strong ability to self-motivate, multi-task and prioritize effectively. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and online environment.
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills to elicit information and provide accurate information clearly and concisely.
  • Very comfortable working in a virtual team environment incorporating group problem-solving; shares information and responsibility.
  • Committed to attending team and ad hoc meetings.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
  • Outgoing, persistent and energetic. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to handle requests and complaints in a professional, non-confrontational manner.
  • Creative problem solving skills, capacity for innovation.
  • Thrive working collaboratively with STW staff.
  • Ability to identify issues and gaps and propose solutions.
  • Enjoy taking initiative, adaptable, and able to work under pressure.

Education

  • A minimum of a 2-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in business administration, communication, project management or similar; equivalencies of education and experience may also be considered.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience in project management.
  • Comfortable learning and using a variety of technical solutions to complete project deliverables.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Sheets and/or Excel.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and lifecycle.
  • Experience using Google product applications or GSuite.

Preferred

  • CAPM, PMP or its equivalent.
  • Familiar with education, content development and research projects.
  • Familiar with research methodologies and technical writing.
  • Experience in coordinating research projects or similar.
