Organization Overview

The mission of the Reinvent Stockton Foundation is to intentionally invest in and rigorously evaluate collective impact strategies and other force multipliers that will improve quality of life for Stockton residents. Our flagship program is Stockton Scholars, a college promise program founded in 2018 by Michael Tubbs and dedicated to guiding young people to higher education and an impactful life. Stockton Scholars has grown to partner with students, families, and the local community to create a clear path through higher education for all Stockton youth. By providing support, resources, and mentorship to make the college process simple and achievable, we will change lives in Stockton— for young people, their families, and their city.

With an initial donation of $20 million from the Spiegel Family Foundation, Stockton Scholars will provide $1,000 a year to students who will be attending 4-year universities and $500 a year to students attending 2-year colleges or trade schools. This scholarship is open to all seniors attending a public high school in Stockton through the class of 2028!

Vision: The Stockton Scholars Mentor Program works to connect Stockton Scholars college students with mentors who can provide them with guidance and resources through their higher education journey. Adult mentors and college-aged students create a powerful and reciprocal alliance.

Purpose: Mentors recycle their success by guiding and empowering their mentees, fostering growth and resilience. In return, mentees infuse mentors with fresh perspectives and renewed passion, forming an inspiring cycle of mutual learning and empowerment.

Empower youth through mentorship and inspire the next generation. We believe young people thrive in higher education when they have trusted professional mentors who can invest their time, expertise, story, and resources into students. Mentorship can change the trajectory of a young person’s life and positively influence them in all facets - including at school, work and home.
