Description

Our Mission

We remove barriers to health with relentless compassion so that no one faces illness and injustice alone.

Our History

We have always fought for those living with HIV and we always will.

In the 1980s, elected officials and other local and national leaders displayed cruelty and bigotry when they refused to support the services and research needed to combat the early surge of the HIV epidemic. A handful of volunteers witnessed their friends, partners, and neighbors neglected and left to die.

They were compelled to fight back and mobilized the community to unite against injustice. They made a lifesaving difference in the lives of thousands through an assembly of chore wheels, hospital visitation calendars, and the establishment of new non-profit organizations. They helped create us, Northwest AIDS Foundation, Chicken Soup Brigade, and Evergreen Wellness Advocates, which became Lifelong.

The need is greater now than ever!

Where you come in

Lifelong's Chicken Soup Brigade (CSB) needs volunteers to lift and stack boxes, unload trucks, repackage, bag, prepare, and pack grocery bags in our warehouse. The warehouse is the foundation of our work in getting food to clients who are living with serious illnesses. With nearly 1.5 million pounds of food coming through our door every year, we need all hands on deck to help process the donations.

Our volunteer sessions are fun, rewarding, and inclusive!

COVID-19 Precautions: During the Coronavirus pandemic, all volunteers must be vaccinated against COVID-19, wear face masks, wash hands frequently, and stay at home if they or someone they live with isn't feeling well. We have safety measures to ensure proper social distancing within the Kitchen and Warehouse. The health and well-being of our clients, volunteers and staff are our top priority and we are actively following CDC safety guidelines to maintain a safe volunteering experience.

Current needs: Monday-Wednesday 9am-11am

Ages: Ages 14+, 14-17 with a Guardian Consent Form that we will provide.
