    Are you a seasoned facilities professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for stewardship and sustainability? The Maryknoll Sisters are seeking a Physical Plant Manager to lead our dedicated team in maintaining a safe, efficient, and beautiful environment across our Center complex.

    About the Role

    As the Physical Plant Manager, you will oversee all daily operations related to maintenance, groundskeeping, and utility systems. You will manage a team of 15 staff members, including supervisors, mechanics/engineers, and administrative support. Your leadership will ensure a high standard of care for our buildings, grounds, and infrastructure while fostering a collaborative and respectful working environment.

    This position plays a critical role in supporting the Maryknoll Sisters’ mission by:

    • Ensuring timely and high-quality completion of service requests from residents and departments.
    • Maintaining the safety, comfort, and aesthetic quality of the Center’s buildings and grounds.
    • Overseeing heating, cooling, and power systems to ensure operational efficiency.
    • Implementing sustainable practices in line with Maryknoll’s environmental values.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Direct supervision of maintenance, power plant, and groundskeeping teams.
    • Oversee building and grounds maintenance, snow/ice removal, and contractor work.
    • Collaborate with other departments on safety systems and project planning.
    • Develop and manage annual budgets for Physical Plant operations.
    • Conduct performance reviews, training, and ensure OSHA compliance.
    • Maintain accurate records of work orders, expenditures, and equipment.

    What You Bring

    • 3–5 years of experience in facility operations and team supervision.
    • Strong organizational and planning skills with an ability to problem-solve.
    • Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Valid New York State Driver’s License; ability to drive BOBCAT equipment.
    • High school diploma required; BA/BS preferred or equivalent experience in the field.
