Forever Tybee Executive Director
Forever Tybee is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life on Tybee Island by fostering community engagement, strengthening neighborhoods, preserving the island's unique character, and advocating for the needs of residents. The organization encourages ethical and transparent government through citizen education, public forums, information sharing, and civic engagement.
Forever Tybee is seeking an entrepreneurial, community-minded leader to become its first Executive Director. This is a unique opportunity to help build a growing nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life on Tybee Island.
Working closely with an engaged volunteer Board of Directors and community leaders, the Executive Director will help strengthen the organization's capacity, expand its community impact, grow financial support, and position Forever Tybee for long-term success.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the organization's chief executive and is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overseeing the organization's operations, finances, fundraising, communications, and community engagement.
Working in partnership with an active and committed Board, the Executive Director will:
- Implement the organization's strategic priorities
- Build strong relationships throughout the Tybee community
- Expand fundraising and financial sustainability
- Coordinate volunteers and community initiatives
- Represent Forever Tybee with integrity and professionalism
- Establish organizational systems that position the organization for future growth
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership
- Partner with the Board to implement strategic priorities.
- Provide leadership to volunteers and committees.
- Build systems and processes that strengthen organizational effectiveness.
- Monitor community issues affecting Forever Tybee's mission.
Community Engagement
- Serve as the organization's primary ambassador.
- Build collaborative relationships with residents, businesses, nonprofit organizations, elected officials, and community leaders.
- Increase volunteer involvement and community participation.
Fundraising & Development
- Develop and implement annual fundraising strategies.
- Cultivate relationships with members, donors, foundations, and sponsors.
- Prepare or oversee grant proposals.
- Support fundraising events and membership development.
Financial & Administrative Management
- Develop and monitor annual budgets.
- Ensure sound financial stewardship.
- Maintain organizational records and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations.
Board Partnership
- Support the Board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities.
- Provide regular reports and recommendations.
- Assist with strategic planning, policy development, and board development.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Social Work, nonprofit management, public administration, law, or related field preferred.
- Five or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in the nonprofit, public, or community sector.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor development.
- Experience managing budgets and organizational operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong public speaking and relationship-building abilities.
- Experience working effectively with volunteer boards.
- Familiarity with Tybee Island, its community, and coastal issues is highly desirable.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Work Arrangement:
As Forever Tybee continues to grow, the organization is initially seeking an Executive Director through an independent contractor arrangement. As organizational capacity and funding continue to expand, the position will evolve into a full-time employee role.
This is primarily a home-based position. While no dedicated office is currently provided, the Executive Director will regularly work throughout the Tybee community by attending Board meetings, City meetings, community events, and meetings with residents and stakeholders.
Candidates should reside on Tybee Island or live within 40 miles of Tybee to ensure regular in-person participation in meetings and community activities.
Compensation
$50,000 - $75,000, based on qualifications and experience.
