    Director of Engagement Job Description

    About One World Project

    One World Project is a Spanish-immersion community center in the Windsor Terrace neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, offering Spanish-immersion educational programs, family support workshops, and community events for all.

    Role:

    The Director of Engagement will work closely with the Communications Director, Executive Director, and other administrators to implement a fundraising strategy, from cultivating and sustaining individual donor relationships to developing written materials for foundations and government grant applications.

    The ideal candidate will bring a high level of organizational skills, will excel at developing systems to track our “back-end” work with donors, will have strong interpersonal skills, and will have experience with platforms like Squarespace, Mailchimp, and other CRM databases.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Strategic Fundraising Planning and Implementation
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and vision.
    • Analyze existing income streams while identifying new opportunities for revenue generation.
    • Lead current fundraising events and develop new strategies that bring together OWP’s parent community, neighbors,and others to raise support for OWP.
    • Maintain and cultivate relationships with current and new funders ensuring compliance with grant requirements and successful reporting.
    1. Capital Campaign:
    • Lead the development and implementation of a capital campaign focused on raising funds for the new Comunidad Campus.
    • Develop and maintain government and other public sources of funding through relationship building with lawmakers’ offices and with key constituencies needed to secure public funding.
    • Identify major gift prospects, build relationships, and solicit donations.
    • Coordinate fundraising events, outreach initiatives, and communication campaigns to engage donors and raise awareness for the capital campaign.
    1. Donor Relations and Stewardship:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, sponsors, and partners.
    • Cultivate a culture of philanthropy within the organization and ensure proper acknowledgment and recognition of donors.
    1. Engagement & Leadership:
    • Work with the board, parents, and other stakeholders to engage them in development initiatives especially around the capital campaign.
    • Support OWP leadership team, providing training, guidance and development opportunities for them to be engaged and effective in fundraising.
    • Collaborate with the executive team and Board of Directors to enhance fundraising capacity and strategic initiatives.
    1. Communications and Marketing:
    • Enhance the organization’s visibility through effective storytelling and marketing campaigns that highlight the impact of One World Project’s work.
    • Collaborate with the communications team to produce donor-facing materials, newsletters, and social media updates.
    1. Data Management and Reporting:
    • Utilize donor management software to track fundraising efforts, maintain accurate records of donations, and analyze data for strategic insights.
    • Prepare regular reports on fundraising activities, donor engagement, and campaign progress for the Board and executive leadership.
    1. Leadership Team:
    • Serve on OWP’s leadership team and provide thought leadership to other members of the team.
    • Help develop and implement a long term strategy for OWP and its mission.
    • Represent OWP at key events and with donors.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree required; relevant Master’s Degree a plus
    • Proficient or Fluent in Spanish
    • Prior experience working in development and fundraising; experience with donor management software
    • Exemplary organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Ability to balance competing projects and deadlines

    Schedule

    The Director of Engagement is a full-time position.

    This position will be primarily in-person, from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, at 302 Vanderbilt Street. There is some flexibility in terms of remote days to be discussed in conversation with the Executive Director.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Compensation is yearly, and it is based on education and experience. The range is between $60,000 and $85,000 annually.

    Full benefits, including $700 monthly toward AETNA insurance, are offered. Full time staff also receive significant paid time off: 4 weeks of vacation, 5 sick days, 2 personal days and all Federal Holidays.

    After 2 years at OWP, all teachers and staff receive an additional 2 percent bonus annually for their 401K.
