About GLXi
Global Learning Exchange Initiative (GLXi) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2013 that has implemented educational programs in Guatemala since 2014. We work with public school teachers in different regions of the country to strengthen literacy instruction from preschool through third grade.
Our Open Books, Open Minds and Open Minds in Action programs are accredited by Guatemala’s Ministry of Education through Resolution DIGEACE AyC/No. 139-2024 and are offered at no cost to participating teachers.
Through this model, GLXi integrates evidence-based teacher training, ongoing support, and monthly workshops designed to address students’ needs and the real challenges teachers face in the classroom. GLXi also provides books, school supplies, and technology tools that facilitate the practical application of what teachers learn. Through these efforts, we seek to strengthen teaching practices, promote inclusive education, and generate sustainable improvements in student learning.
Position Overview
GLXi is seeking a Development Manager to lead and execute the organization’s institutional development strategy, strengthening its financial sustainability through the diversification of funding sources, grant management, the development of relationships with donors and strategic partners, and the implementation of fundraising initiatives.
The position requires strategic thinking, initiative, excellent execution skills, and outstanding verbal and written communication abilities. The selected candidate will report directly to the Executive Director, work collaboratively with the GLXi team, and contribute to the continued strengthening of the development function. The position’s priorities, processes, and responsibilities may evolve according to the organization’s needs and recommendations reviewed and approved by the Executive Director.
Performance will be reviewed every two months and formally evaluated at the conclusion of the first six months. Based on results achieved, demonstrated leadership, and GLXi’s needs, the individual may be considered for promotion to Development Director.

- Identify, cultivate, and maintain strategic relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, international organizations, and partners, while actively developing new funding, sponsorship, and collaboration opportunities through professional, clear, and timely communication.
- Professionally represent GLXi, when required and in coordination with the Executive Director, at meetings, events, and other forums related to institutional development, fundraising, strategic partnerships, and organizational positioning.
- Plan and coordinate fundraising campaigns, fundraising events, and other institutional initiatives in collaboration with GLXi’s marketing agency. This includes developing impact stories, content, and communication and promotional activities, as well as monitoring and evaluating results.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information regarding funding opportunities, donors, partners, and follow-up activities in Bloomerang. Provide periodic reports to the Executive Director and, when required, participate in the bimonthly meetings of the Board of Directors to present progress and results, following prior review and coordination with the Executive Director.
- Collaborate with the team on institutional and operational activities during key implementation periods, including the preparation and packaging of educational materials for teachers participating in GLXi’s programs.
