Family Legal Care

Family Legal Care is an innovative nonprofit organization in New York City dedicated to empowering unrepresented litigants with legal information and compassionate guidance so that they can successfully advocate for themselves in the Family Court system, regain their stability, and decrease the likelihood that they will return to the Courts. We operate programs inside the Courts and in the community, all of which are driven by our mission: to enhance access to justice for children and families by providing legal information, community education, and compassionate guidance, while promoting system-wide reform of the courts and public agencies.

Family Legal Care's programs include the Family Legal Centers and Education & Information Sites, operating inside the Family Courts in all five boroughs of New York City, as well as a Family Law Information Telephone, Email, and Live Chat Hotline. We also produce original multilingual Legal Resource Guides, which are made available in eight languages at all programs and on our website. Family Legal Care also conducts the Family Court Judge for a Day Program, in partnership with the Family Court, and engages in participant-driven system-wide reform and policy advocacy efforts.
