Acerca de
Founded in 1908, Prevent Blindness is the leading eye health and safety organization in the United States dedicated to preventing blindness and preserving sight across all age spectrums and eye conditions. With an emphasis on equitable access to eyecare for all, we touch the lives of millions of people each year by educating the public about conditions related to vision and eye health and the importance of taking care of their eyes, and developing resources to support their doing so; advocating for public policy that advances vision and eye health; fostering early detection efforts as a key to the prevention of vision loss and blindness; promoting advances in public health systems of care that support eye health, and public health research that identifies the scope of vision problems across the country; and empowering patients to be advocates for their own eye health and that of those around them.
Prevent Blindness is a nationwide, independent not-for-profit organization, headquartered at 225 W. Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois. We are governed by a multi-disciplinary board of directors from across the country. The work of the organization is administered through the staff of our National Office and is augmented by a network of affiliates and partners across the country.
