The mission of RIAF is to secure funding to subsidize the cost of abortion and contraceptive care. Through partnerships with clinics, community organizations, and nationwide abortion funds, RIAF distributes these subsidies to Rhode Island residents in need of them, and seeks to bring awareness of the availability of its funds to all communities within the state.
The Rhode Island Abortion Fund (RIAF, formerly the Women’s Health and Education Fund or WHEF) is an all-volunteer organization that supports Rhode Islanders who choose abortion or contraceptive care, but cannot afford the cost.
RIAF is also a participating member organization of the National Network of Abortion Funds, a collective of over 70 independent abortion funds.
RIAF recognizes that the reproductive justice movement includes all genders, including transgender and non-binary people. We acknowledge that people who identify as men can become pregnant and seek abortions. We strive to meet the needs of all people who seek our funding, and we welcome feedback in pursuing our mission.
