Justice Education Project

The Justice Education Project is the first national Gen Z-led criminal justice reform organization. We equip young people to analyze and challenge the systems that shape their lives, across policing, courts, incarceration, and emerging technologies, through rigorous research and youth-authored civic storytelling.

The Justice Education Project (JEP) is a youth-led organization working to ensure that young people most affected by the criminal legal system have a voice in shaping its future.

We train young people to conduct research, write for public audiences, engage policymakers, and contribute to conversations about policing, courts, incarceration, and emerging technologies. Our work examines how systems of power make decisions about people, from risk assessment and facial recognition to school surveillance and other automated tools used in the justice system.

JEP's work includes research and publications, civic writing initiatives, public events, policy engagement, and partnerships with universities, legal organizations, and other nonprofits. Through our civic writing initiative with UC Berkeley's Incarceration to College program, for example, we have worked to place system-impacted young people's voices at the center of public conversations about justice.
