WHY Simplify Technology for Seniors
"Isolation in the pandemic is hitting elderly people especially hard....." 2020 WSJ article.
"Restrictions/confinements, isolation/loneliness are top categories of stress amongst seniors" - study by Brenda Whitehead published in the Gerontologist.
So to stay connected during pandemic, there was a transformation to digitalization. Tech usage amongst older adults skyrocketed - family gatherings on zoom/facetime, online orders from grocery stores were some of the highly used applications.
Still, lack of knowledge and complexity is reported as one of the top barriers to adopting technology amongst seniors.
So we decided to simplify technology and bridge the digital divide for Seniors. SeniorTechPal, with multiple programs, aims to remove barriers to improve technology usage amongst Seniors - to bring them joy.
