To champion solutions that improve the water quality and climate resilience of the Genesee River Basin and initiatives that connect people to the River.
Protecting and celebrating the Genesee river
Genesee RiverWatch works to improve the water quality and climate resilience of the Genesee River Basin and its tributaries to create environmental, recreational, and economic assets for its communities. We also connect people to the river, encouraging them to explore, experience and celebrate the river. We are committed to:
Improve Water Quality and Climate Resilience
We collaborate with others to improve the water quality and climate resilience in the Basin. We design, obtain funding for, and execute projects to restore streambanks and implement Best Management Practices to reduce phosphorus and sediment load in the river, reduce/avoid greenhouse gas emissions and preserve valuable farmland.
Connecting People to the River
We encourage people to explore, experience and celebrate the river by creating awareness and by increasing access for boating, fishing, hiking and biking.
We enhance public knowledge of the Genesee River and strive to increase commitment to its future health and use through actions such as our Genesee River Basin Report Card, Genesee River Basin Summits and water quality monitoring.
