Shelter Equity

Shelter Equity is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity dedicated to dismantling the barriers that keep families trapped in cycles of poverty. Through a holistic approach centered on safe housing, clean water, and bicycle mobility, we help create long-term stability that supports better health, education, work, and opportunity.

We have been building in our local community for 31 years and now across the globe, we realize the need is great—and traditional approaches of isolated aid rarely address the deeper, systemic issues that keep families stuck in poverty. That’s why Shelter Equity doesn’t simply drop build projects and leave. We work to replace temporary interventions with sustainable, community-driven solutions that create lasting change both now and for generations to come.

As one of the charities that help alleviate poverty, we ensure our work is measurable, transparent, and community-led, expanding opportunity where it’s needed most. Because our overhead costs are fully covered, 100% of every public donation goes directly to program services.
