Bhoomiputra Foundation is a Mumbai-based, youth-led organisation working to empower coastal communities, particularly fishers, farmers, women and young people across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and coastal Maharashtra.

The Foundation works at the intersection of coastal resilience, indigenous knowledge, social entrepreneurship, climate action, cultural preservation and sustainable community development. Through community programmes, youth initiatives, research, storytelling and entrepreneurship platforms, we connect grassroots experience with academia, technology, startups, government institutions and industry partners.

Our initiatives are designed not merely to provide temporary support, but to build skills, strengthen leadership, create livelihood opportunities and help communities become more self-reliant. Programmes such as Cohort One demonstrate our approach of bringing fishers, farmers, students, entrepreneurs and academic institutions together to exchange knowledge and develop practical solutions.

Volunteers and interns at Bhoomiputra Foundation receive opportunities to contribute to real community projects involving research, field engagement, communications, programme coordination, creative storytelling, partnerships, sustainability and social innovation.

We welcome passionate young people who want to learn from communities, contribute their skills and help shape a more equitable, resilient and sustainable future for India’s coastal regions.

Bhoomiputra Foundation is a youth-led social impact organisation working with coastal communities across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and coastal Maharashtra. We primarily serve fishers, farmers, women, young people, traditional livelihood groups and indigenous communities whose knowledge, culture and rights are often overlooked amid rapid urbanisation and economic growth.

Our work brings together community wisdom, modern technology, entrepreneurship, education and creative storytelling. We develop initiatives related to coastal resilience, climate action, livelihood development, youth leadership, cultural preservation, women’s participation and sustainable community development. We also connect grassroots communities with academic institutions, startups, government bodies, professionals and responsible businesses.

Our values are rooted in dignity, inclusion, sustainability, collaboration and respect for indigenous knowledge. We believe communities should not be treated only as beneficiaries; they must be recognised as partners, knowledge holders and leaders in shaping their own future.

Through programmes such as Cohort One, we have created platforms where fishers, farmers, students, entrepreneurs and academic institutions learn from one another and explore practical, locally relevant solutions.
