Policy Manager - HR & Talent Acquisitions

Project 2029 is looking for a passionate volunteer to help build and manage a high-performing policy team by overseeing talent recruitment, onboarding, and team placement in support of our mission.

Donate your time and expertise to help our core group of volunteers create a more perfect union and a democracy that truly puts the people first.

    About the Role

As Policy Manager (HR & Talent Acquisitions – Policy Team), you will:

    • Manage recruitment efforts for the Policy Department by reviewing incoming applications and resumes.
    • Screen candidates to assess qualifications, policy expertise, and alignment with Project 2029’s mission.
    • Conduct interviews with prospective volunteers and team members.
    • Evaluate candidates’ strengths, experience, and interests to determine the best placement within policy teams.
    • Assign new hires to the appropriate policy divisions based on expertise (e.g., healthcare, education, criminal justice, economic policy, environmental policy, etc.).
    • Coordinate onboarding for new policy volunteers and ensure they are successfully integrated into their teams.
    • Work closely with the Chief Policy Officer and Deputy Chief Policy Officers to identify staffing needs and fill talent gaps.
    • Maintain an organized pipeline of applicants and track recruitment progress.
    • Help foster a positive, mission-driven team culture that supports collaboration, accountability, and growth.
    • Develop processes that improve recruitment efficiency and strengthen volunteer retention within the Policy Department.

    Who We Are

Project 2029 is a grassroots, volunteer-driven organization committed to creating a more equitable society. Our mission is to establish a democracy where freedom, opportunity, and security are available to all, where equality is paramount, where government corruption is exposed, and where laws are made with the people’s best interests in mind.

We focus on developing actionable policies that foster a flourishing, transparent, and accountable government. We aim to identify and empower new leaders at both the state and federal levels who are committed to integrity, justice, and real change. Our work is centered on rewriting the rules of governance to build a movement for democracy that honors justice and serves future generations.

We are seeking individuals who are highly organized, people-oriented, and passionate about building strong teams that can drive meaningful policy change. This role is ideal for someone with experience in recruiting, human resources, talent management, or organizational operations who also has an interest in public policy and progressive change.

Ideal candidates are strong communicators, excellent judges of talent, and strategic thinkers who can match the right people to the right policy teams. They should be passionate about helping others succeed and committed to strengthening Project 2029’s policy infrastructure.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in recruiting, human resources, talent acquisition, or team management
    • Strong interviewing and candidate evaluation skills
    • Excellent organizational and communication abilities
    • Ability to assess talent and align individuals with appropriate teams
    • Experience managing multiple candidates and workflows at once
    • Passion for social justice and progressive change

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working in nonprofit, advocacy, political, or volunteer organizations
    • Familiarity with policy issue areas and policy team structures
    • Experience with onboarding and volunteer engagement
