Descripción
Bloodworks NW is expanding blood collection and community programs into the Yakima area in 2027. We are seeking a motivated Community Ambassador to help build local partnerships, recruit and onboard Stop the Bleed (STB) instructors, and develop an interest list of community members and organizations for upcoming trainings and volunteer opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Serve as local point-person and community representative for Bloodworks NW in Yakima.
- Identify local community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, employers, faith groups, and civic leaders; identify potential partners for STB trainings and blood drives.
- Support recruitment and mobilization of local STB instructors (identify candidates, explain role/commitment, assist with enrollment into instructor training).
- Create and maintain an organized interest list (individuals, organizations, preferred dates/locations) for STB classes and volunteer opportunities.
- Coordinate outreach and scheduling with Bloodworks NW staff and local partners; help promote classes via email, phone, social media, and in-person meetings.
- Host or attend community meetings and events to raise awareness and gather interest.
- Track outreach activity and report regular updates to Bloodworks NW (contacts made, leads, instructor pipeline, interest-list status).
- Help ensure culturally appropriate and accessible outreach for Yakima’s diverse communities (including bilingual outreach if applicable).
- Support logistics on training days as needed (room setup, participant check-in, materials distribution).
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable with community outreach, relationship-building, and basic admin tasks (spreadsheets, email, phone).
- Commitment to Bloodworks NW mission and to promoting public safety and preparedness.
Preferred
- Experience in community organizing, volunteer recruitment, public health, emergency preparedness, or teaching.
- Familiarity with the Yakima community and local organizations.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
- Prior CPR/Stop the Bleed training or experience with first-aid education.
