About Carter Burden Network (CBN)
The Carter Burden Network (CBN) supports older New Yorkers in living independently, safely, and with dignity. For over 50 years, we’ve provided programs that foster connection, purpose, and community. Just as we value the older adults we serve, we also believe in the power of experience — and the meaningful contributions that come from staying active, engaged, and connected.
About the Opportunity
We welcome volunteers who bring prior experience in Human Resources, office administration, operations, or other structured, detail-oriented roles—and who are excited to keep their skills sharp while learning new ones. This opportunity is especially well-suited for individuals who enjoy organized work, problem‑solving, and supporting people behind the scenes.
Whether you’re a retired or semi-retired professional, a returning parent re‑entering the workforce, an office manager looking to expand into HR, or an older adult seeking meaningful ways to stay engaged, you’ll find a supportive environment where your existing strengths are valued. You don’t need to know everything on day one; what matters most is your reliability, curiosity, and willingness to learn. I’m just as willing to teach as I am to learn from you.

A resume is optional—helpful, but not required. What matters most is your desire to learn, your reliability, and your comfort using (or willingness to quickly learn) basic technical tools. Documentation is a core part of this role, so volunteers should be comfortable working in Microsoft Word, Adobe, SharePoint, and familiar with (or open to learning) SMART goal frameworks.
We welcome volunteers with HR experience, office management backgrounds, operations skills, or anyone returning to the workforce who wants to keep their professional skills sharp while contributing to a mission-driven organization.
