    CHITAMBO DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION – CALL FOR VOLUNTEER EXPERTS (GRANT & PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT)
    1. About the Foundation

    Chitambo Development Foundation (CHDF) is a community-led, nonprofit, non-political, and non-religious organization registered under Zambia’s Companies Act No. 10 of 2017. Operating primarily in Chitambo and Serenje districts of Central Province, Zambia, CHDF works to empower poor, marginalized, and disadvantaged rural communities to sustainably uplift themselves through asset building, self-help initiatives, and inclusive development.

    Our thematic areas of focus include:

      • Agriculture
      • Health
      • Education
      • Livelihoods
      • Tourism, Environment, and Natural Resource Management

    To strengthen our fundraising efforts, CHDF is calling on experienced, passionate professionals worldwide to volunteer their expertise in grant writing and proposal development for projects under the thematic areas listed above.

    1. Key Responsibilities by Thematic Area

    A. Agriculture

      • Draft fundable proposals focused on sustainable agriculture, conservation farming, fish farming, livestock, and agro-marketing.
      • Identify suitable donors/funding sources.
      • Collaborate with CHDF staff to integrate local knowledge and context into proposals.

    B. Health

      • Develop proposals for reproductive health rights, maternal care, mental health, and health infrastructure.
      • Include innovative community outreach approaches (e.g., sports for health, theatre for development).
      • Align proposals with national and global health development goals.

    C. Education

      • Prepare proposals for school sponsorships, adult literacy, infrastructure development, and digital education solutions.
      • Highlight inclusive education approaches for vulnerable children and rural learners.
      • Integrate lifelong learning strategies.

    D. Livelihoods

      • Create proposals that support cooperatives, women/youth microfinance, financial literacy, and social protection.
      • Frame income-generating activities such as goat rearing, poultry, and value chains.
      • Propose sustainable entrepreneurship models suited for rural contexts.

    E. Tourism, Environment & Natural Resource Management

      • Write proposals that promote ecotourism, conservation clubs, waste management, climate adaptation, and afforestation.
      • Showcase community-led biodiversity protection initiatives.
      • Address energy efficiency, water and sanitation, and green economy approaches.
    1. Qualifications and Requirements
      • A degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in a relevant field (Agriculture, Public Health, Education, Development Studies, Environmental Science, Tourism, Economics, etc.)
      • Proven track record in writing successful, bankable proposals and securing donor funding or grants.
      • Excellent English writing skills and ability to develop logically structured, compelling funding proposals.
      • Experience working with NGOs or community-based organizations is a strong asset.
      • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
