    We are building a Gen Z-led movement seeking to empower young leaders to advocate for transformative policy and bold political action, predominately at a state and local level.     POSITION SUMMARY

    The Chief Human Resource Officer is considered an administrative position and reports directly to the Executive Director of Beyond the Ballot. The Chief Human Resource Officer shall act as the head of the Department of Human Resources and, as such, may determine certain procedures, functions, and positions within the limitations of the Bylaws. The Chief Human Resource Officer is responsible for leading Beyond the Ballot’s human resources strategy, ensuring that HR policies, workforce planning, and staff advocacy align with the organization’s mission and goals.

    This role focuses on cultivating an inclusive, equitable, diverse, and supportive workplace culture while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory standards. While this is a volunteer position along with all other positions at Beyond the Ballot, the CHRO will oversee payroll administration should it become relevant in the future.

    As the CHRO, you will align HR initiatives with Beyond the Ballot’s strategic objectives to enhance staff and volunteer engagement and collaborate with organizational leaders to assess and plan for future workforce needs. You will develop, update, and enforce HR policies in alignment with legal and regulatory requirements and establish guidelines for workplace conduct, grievance procedures, and conflict resolution, among other strategic duties that the administration may delegate.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION:

    • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or technical school is strongly preferred.

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience in managing and mentoring team members and fostering a positive work culture.
    • Preferably, a minimum of 1 year of experience in Human Resources.
    • Preferred experience in conflict resolution.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-oriented environment.
    • Ability to mediate and resolve potential conflicts.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Support leadership in developing equitable and inclusive hiring practices.
    • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the organization.
    • Partner with hiring managers and relevant staff to identify staffing needs.
    • Provide guidance and mediation support to resolve internal disputes.
    • If payroll becomes relevant, oversee its administration in collaboration with the appropriate financial staff and ensure payroll processes comply with labor laws and organizational policies.
    • Devise remedial actions for identified HR-related issues, including staff grievances and workplace conflicts.
    • Develop and maintain Beyond the Ballot’s Board-approved HR Policies and Procedures.

    Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods.

    Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between various in-person working environments. Will require travel to multiple sites.
