    Descripción

Help build the funding foundation that can change the future of families.

Day 1 Recovery Center is a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit preparing to serve parents and families affected by housing instability, substance use, trauma, justice-system involvement, and DCFS involvement. Our programs will help parents strengthen family relationships, achieve stability, and work toward reunification and long-term independence.

We are seeking two experienced Volunteer Grant Development Specialists who want to use their skills to help a growing nonprofit move from vision to measurable community impact.

    Responsibilities may include:

    • Researching and qualifying foundation, corporate, federal, state, county, and local funding opportunities
    • Preparing letters of inquiry, grant proposals, narratives, and supporting documents
    • Reviewing funding guidelines and determining organizational eligibility and alignment
    • Helping develop reusable grant language, data, and supporting materials
    • Maintaining a grant calendar and tracking deadlines, submissions, and results
    • Collaborating with the Founder/Executive Director to translate program plans into competitive funding requests
    • Recommending improvements that strengthen Day 1 Recovery Center’s grant readiness

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Demonstrated nonprofit grant-writing or grant-development experience
    • Experience with government grants, foundation grants, or corporate funding
    • Ability to research and evaluate funder alignment before recommending an application
    • Strong writing, organization, communication, and deadline-management skills
    • Experience supporting a startup or newer nonprofit is especially valuable
    • Familiarity with Grants.gov, SAM.gov, government RFPs, budgets, or grant reporting is a plus

This is a remote, unpaid volunteer position requiring approximately 4–5 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible, but dependable communication and follow-through on agreed-upon deadlines are essential.

As sustainable funding becomes available, there may be an opportunity for this position to transition into paid work; however, future employment is not guaranteed.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who wants to do more than submit applications. You will help shape the funding strategy and infrastructure of a nonprofit being built to strengthen families and help parents create lasting change.
