Donation Assistant

Summary: Receive and process items brought to Household Goods by donors.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure donors have a positive experience at Household Goods.
• Establish a polite and respectful relationship with the donors.
• Explain Household Goods’ mission and needs (items, volunteers, funding) to donors.
• Determine if items are acceptable (usable by clients, clean, functional, in good working order, with all parts).
• Inspect items for health and safety issues (e.g., stains, rips, broken or missing parts,mold, infestations, etc.)
• Respectfully refuse any items that do not meet Household Goods guidelines.
• Neatly and accurately complete Donor Receipts.
• Be able to explain how personal information is used.
• Enthusiastically thank donors for generous donations and encourage them to return.
• Display items neatly in appropriate locations or have furniture movers assist.
• Assemble items or label separate parts clearly.
• Keep all client and donor information confidential

Availability:

• Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings

• Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday only 8:45 AM to 12:00 PM
