About Mentor A Promise
Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth experiencing housing instability through mentorship, education, and community-based programming.
Position Summary
The Bike Club Coordinator will support the development and implementation of MAP’s Bike Club, a wellness-focused initiative designed to promote physical activity, mental well-being, and community engagement through cycling.
This role includes coordinating NYC-based rides as well as supporting globally coordinated participation, allowing individuals and communities worldwide to organize and participate in local rides aligned with MAP’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate regular Bike Club rides in New York City
- Support the development of a structure for globally coordinated rides, enabling participation across different locations
- Assist in scheduling, communication, and coordination of meeting points and ride logistics
- Promote an inclusive and welcoming environment for participants of all experience levels
- Encourage participation in wellness-focused activities that support physical and mental health
- Collaborate with internal teams to align Bike Club activities with broader program goals
- Support basic tracking of participation and engagement
- Assist with the collection of photos and videos for program visibility and outreach efforts
- Encourage participants to represent the organization through appropriate branding (e.g., MAP apparel)
- Promote safe cycling practices, including awareness of local traffic laws and use of appropriate safety equipment (e.g., helmets, lights)
Qualifications
- Interest in wellness, cycling, or community-based programming
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate activities and engage participants
- Comfortable supporting in-person activities (NYC) and remote/global coordination
- Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven environment
- Prior experience in cycling groups, event coordination, or community engagement is a plus, but not required
Commitment
- Preferred 3–6 month commitment
- Weekly or biweekly involvement in coordination and/or ride activities
- Flexibility to support both local (NYC) and global participation
