    About Mentor A Promise

Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth experiencing housing instability through mentorship, education, and community-based programming.

    Position Summary

The Bike Club Coordinator will support the development and implementation of MAP’s Bike Club, a wellness-focused initiative designed to promote physical activity, mental well-being, and community engagement through cycling.

This role includes coordinating NYC-based rides as well as supporting globally coordinated participation, allowing individuals and communities worldwide to organize and participate in local rides aligned with MAP’s mission.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan and coordinate regular Bike Club rides in New York City
    • Support the development of a structure for globally coordinated rides, enabling participation across different locations
    • Assist in scheduling, communication, and coordination of meeting points and ride logistics
    • Promote an inclusive and welcoming environment for participants of all experience levels
    • Encourage participation in wellness-focused activities that support physical and mental health
    • Collaborate with internal teams to align Bike Club activities with broader program goals
    • Support basic tracking of participation and engagement
    • Assist with the collection of photos and videos for program visibility and outreach efforts
    • Encourage participants to represent the organization through appropriate branding (e.g., MAP apparel)
    • Promote safe cycling practices, including awareness of local traffic laws and use of appropriate safety equipment (e.g., helmets, lights)

    Qualifications

    • Interest in wellness, cycling, or community-based programming
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to coordinate activities and engage participants
    • Comfortable supporting in-person activities (NYC) and remote/global coordination
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven environment
    • Prior experience in cycling groups, event coordination, or community engagement is a plus, but not required

    Commitment

    • Preferred 3–6 month commitment
    • Weekly or biweekly involvement in coordination and/or ride activities
    • Flexibility to support both local (NYC) and global participation

    Important Notice

This is a volunteer position and does not provide compensation or guarantee future employment. Participation must align with Mentor A Promise’s policies, safety expectations, and applicable guidelines. Individuals are responsible for their own equipment, safety, and compliance with local laws.

    How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit a brief statement of interest outlining their experience, availability, and interest in supporting the Bike Club initiative.

If you want, I can also create a “Ride the Promise” movement version to match the Run Club branding and make both initiatives feel like one unified wellness ecosystem.
