Future doctors, nurses, PAs, social workers, therapists, and healthcare professionals: hospice volunteering gives you something textbooks can’t 📚❤️
As a hospice volunteer, you’ll learn:
- Patient communication and bedside presence
- Compassionate care and active listening
- How the hospice IDT team works together
- Real-life experience with charting, documentation, and professionalism
- The emotional side of healthcare and family support
A strong hospice volunteer reference letter can help strengthen applications for:
- PA Programs
- Nursing School
- Medical School
- Social Work Programs
- CNA/CMA programs
- Scholarships and healthcare internships
Volunteers provide companionship visits, conversation, music, games, reading, tuck-in calls, and support for patients and caregivers. Most visits are about 1 hour a week, and volunteers choose their schedule.
No medical experience needed. Training provided.
