Committee Chair – Volunteer Role Overview
The Committee Chair is a leadership role within South Project, responsible for guiding a volunteer committee to plan, organize, and execute key community events, including our Annual Community Baby Shower and other programs.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, people-focused, and passionate about creating meaningful experiences for young mothers and families in our community.
Key Responsibilities
Committee Leadership & Coordination
- Lead a volunteer committee and assign responsibilities
- Guide planning discussions and ensure deadlines are met
- Serve as the main liaison between the committee and South Project staff
Event Planning & Execution
- Collaborate with staff to coordinate logistics, timelines, and event goals
- Support fundraising and in-kind donation efforts as needed
- Ensure smooth execution on event day, including setup, volunteer coordination, and cleanup
Volunteer & Stakeholder Communication
- Maintain regular communication with committee members
- Help recruit and engage volunteers to support committee initiatives
- Assist with recognition of volunteers, donors, and community partners
Record-Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain committee records, progress updates, and post-event feedback
- Track donations, volunteer participation, and event metrics
Time Commitment
- 2–4 hours per month, with additional involvement leading up to major events
- Flexible schedule, with increased activity in the month(s) before each event
