Washington Conservatory of Music

The Washington Conservatory of Music is a nationally accredited (NASM/ACCPAS) community music school serving students of all ages and levels without audition through individual lessons on piano, voice, string, winds, brass/percussion, theory, and composition, Early Childhood Music classes, Traditional Irish music classes and Folk guitar and ukulele classes, vocal ensembles for Seniors, and more. WCM sponsors a free community orchestra for amateur adults and the Capital Horn Club for amateur adult french horn enthusiasts.

Lessons and classes - from early childhood through adults - are offered in two locations: on Westmoreland Circle in Bethesda, MD, and in Glen Echo Park, Glen Echo, MD.

The Washington Conservatory offers a free professional concert series of 8 - 10 concerts at Westmoreland UCC Church in Bethesda as well as a Casual Concert series and other special musical events at Glen Echo Park.

Past performing concert artists have included Irish pianists John O'Conor and Alexander Paley, the Shanghai String Quartet and the Pressenda Chamber Players. Free master classes (in cooperation with Washington Performing Arts Society) have been presented by Emanuel Ax, Richard Goode, Alisa Weilerstein and others.

In 2017 the Washington Conservatory inaugurated The Tapestry Music Project, providing individual lessons and in partnership with Montgomery Housing Partnership and Casa de Maryland, teaching music to children of first generation immigrant families.
