Strawtown Art & Garden Studio

Strawtown Studio is an award-winning arts-based environmental education organization located in the lower Hudson Valley. For 20 years Strawtown’s mission has been dedicated to connecting youth and communities with the natural world through art and science discovery programming. As a team of artists, naturalists, and educators, we develop innovative programs that support students in developing artistically and socially so that they become confident, creative, responsible, and nature-connected individuals.

Our place-based programs seek to model and inspire environmental stewardship for our local land and waterways. Creating art both as a way to connect with our surroundings and as a voice for the environment is a signature of the organization.

Strawtown’s vision is to maintain high quality educational and cultural programs for children, families, and communities. We also aim to train more facilitators in our methods and support them so that they will in turn reach more communities. Through the Strawtown experiences, we aim for participants to gain a sense of place and belonging; a sense of self and community; and a sense of purpose for their lives.
